United Airlines to Require New Employees to be Fully Vaccinated

United Airlines said it would require all new employees to be fully vaccinated against the novel coronavirus.

The carrier will require individuals who receive job offers made after June 15 to provide proof that they are fully vaccinated by the scheduled start date.

The policy was announced in a memorandum to employees viewed by Frequent Business Traveler.

The move follows a similar action taken by Delta Air Lines in May.

The announcement comes as little surprise as United CEO Scott Kirby had said he wanted to require all employees to be fully vaccinated as far back as January of this year.

Delta, at the time it announced the policy, said it does not plan to impose a vaccination requirement on current employees, and said that 60% of its workforce is fully vaccinated.
