Odyssey of the Seas Arrives to New Florida Homeport

Just after 7 am Thursday morning, Royal Caribbean’s new Quantum Ultra-class ship Odyssey of the Seas arrived to her new homeport in Florida.

The vessel pulled into Fort Lauderdale’s Port Everglades accompanied by a celebratory water cannon salute.

From Port Everglades, Odyssey of the Seas will sail six and eight-night western and southern Caribbean cruises beginning July 3, 2021. Port calls on the eight-night southern itinerary include Falmouth, Jamaica; Oranjestad, Aruba; and Willemstad, Curaçao. Calls on the six-night western cruises include Cozumel and Costa Maya, Mexico, as well as the line’s private Bahamian island Perfect Day at CocoCay.

Next month will mark the first time a Quantum Ultra-class ship has sailed from the United States, as the first Quantum Ultra-class vessel, Spectrum of the Seas, sails from China.

The Quantum Ultra class is an evolution of Royal’s original “smart ship” Quantum class, which includes Quantum of the Seas, Anthem of the Seas, and Ovation of the Seas. One hallmark feature of the Quantum and Quantum Ultra class is an elevated observation capsule called the North Star, which brings passengers high above the ship for stunning views.

Other features of the Quantum and Quantum Ultra class ships include the Bionic Bar with robotic arm “bartenders,” the RipCord by iFly skydiving simulator, the Two70 transformative theater with panoramic windows and robotic “dancing” screens, and the SeaPlex indoor activity space with bumper cars, roller skating, and circus school.

Last Friday, Odyssey of the Seas arrived into the United States for the first time when she docked north of Port Everglades at Port Canaveral.

Most recently, the vessel was scheduled to sail from Haifa, Israel this summer, marking the first time Royal Caribbean was to operate a ship from Israel. But due to unrest in the region, the cruise line made the decision to skip Odyssey‘s sailings from Israel and head straight to North America for her inaugural Caribbean season.
