Hilton Worldwide announced Wednesday that it has solved what it termed a “longtime travel frustration” and would henceforth allow travelers to book confirmed connecting rooms.
The new feature, Confirmed Connecting Rooms, is available globally at participating hotels when booking via the Hilton website or the Hilton Honors app. The feature covers the hotelier’s 18 brands.
In a statement, Hilton noted that booking connecting rooms is “a decades-old problem,” and said it is the first major hotel chain to offer a feature allowing travelers to obtain a confirmed booking for two connecting rooms.
“As families and friends begin to reunite, reconnect and travel again, we anticipate that need [for this feature] will only grow stronger,” said Chris Silcock, the chains’ chief commercial officer.
The feature, which was originally created by Hilton’s Motto brand, works by having the person making the booking indicate the desired number of rooms at a specific hotel on a specific date, check the box for connecting rooms, and select the desired connecting rooms and make the booking.
