Alaska Airlines announced that it plans to resume a full schedule of flights from Paine Field-Snohomish County Airport by next spring.
Paine Field is a small international airport that serves the Seattle area,
The news comes on the heels of news that the United States reached a milestone of having over 50% of its adult population fully vaccinated this week, an indicator that travel in the States could soon return to its pre-pandemic levels.
Alaska’s schedule from Paine Field next spring will include 13 daily departures.
On June 17, the airline will begin operating flights to five cities, namely Las Vegas, Orange County, Phoenix, San Diego, and San Francisco from the Washington State airport. The carrier will then increase its service to 11 daily departures on September 8, with two additional destinations, Boise and Spokane, and a second daily flight to Las Vegas.
Beginning October 7, Alaska will resume its seasonal service to Palm Springs, followed by new seasonal service to Tucson beginning on November 19.
In May 2020, Paine Field shut down completely for several months given a lack of air traffic and used the time to accelerate planned maintenance and repairs that would have taken over four months to complete had the airfield remained open.
